I made a deal with myself last year, that I would do what brings me joy. This meant changing some of my relationships, with people, with work, with myself. I have always found joy in the expression of self through sound, and 10 years ago I experienced a powerful awakening of self through the sound of a gong. The gong is an instrument used to change or expand a body of work, be it musical or human. These 10 years I have never forgotten my experience, and came to the conclusion that it was time to have my own gong, to continue the expansion of self through the powerful and transformational sound waves it can create.
I started researching gongs last spring, looking for a source/supplier that held the awareness of integrity that I need in all contacts these days. I found a source out of CA with a fellow sound therapist that created the opportunity for what I now can enjoy in my own personal space. My 22" chau gong arrived on January 6th. My husband made a beautiful stand for it and now I get to have my 10-year dream come true in 2010!
My gong will be played in most kundalini yoga classes as well as in my singing bowl gatherings and sound therapy sessions. It has a wonderful range of tones, and a glorious shimmer that can be reached if the participants are open.
May you do what brings you joy, in every moment, in every day. Letting in the goodness of you brings in more joy and more into the great web of life as joy is a gift to all.
Sat Nam. Happy 2010!
