What CMT Means

Posted by amberhunt@heartandharastudio.com on April 5, 2010 at 1:59 PM Comments comments (0)

What does CMT mean? CMT means certified massage therapist, and in the state of MN there is no minimum amount of training required to hold this title. To date, I have about 1200 hours of certified massage training, which includes 600 hours of standard massage (relaxation/deep tissueand more) and 600 hours of additional training in aromatherapy, reflexology, hot stone and Thai Yoga massage. A trained massage professional is able to assess and apply the skills of their training combined with the gifts of their personality and touch to create a truly therapeutic session that enables the client to begin their healing process. Extensive training enables the therapist to know the scope of practice in their field, to ensure clientele safety by not using techniques that could negatively effect medication or existing conditions, and how to establish healthy ethical boundaries all while creating a nurturing environment for initating healing and wholeness. When you go to get a massage- as a client you should ask what their educational background is and how many hours of training they have as a professional. Most massage schools in MN now offer 500+hours of certified massage training, a big step towards establishing a higher standard of quality. At the Studio, all therapists are well trained professionals dedicated to the client's improvement through education and therapeutic touch. We know that healing begins within, that we are only part of the journey, and that for lasting benefit education is a must. As therapists we continue to expand our skill base by taking additional training and specializing in what we enjoy and know well. What we offer comes from beyond just our hands and hearts, as we adhere to professional guidelines creating a high standard of care and trust. We honor you and seek to provide the best in our industry. So, take time to ask questions, seek quality trained professionals as well continue to take better care of yourself by eating well, exercising, and living a vibrant life. Namaste- Amber (owner and therapist)

Why the Studio

Posted by amberhunt@heartandharastudio.com on April 5, 2010 at 1:53 PM Comments comments (0)

The Studio was created after 9 years of dreaming and planning of a space that was dedicated to the healing arts, a space that I could deepen my work in, a space that could be shared with others, both professionals and students/clients. The very nature of the Studio is about sacred relationship, understanding the inner and outer workings of self, hence the motto- "A Space to Learn, Grow and BE". I invite you to be yourself, to be radiant and wonderous, to discover and marvel at the very nature of your existence and all the layers of story and wisdom that you embody. I honor the divine, thehuman, the beyond within all and would love to have your company along the way, be it in a class, a session, a conversation. The Journey Begins with One Breath. Namaste- Amber (creator and primary practitioner/teacher at Heart and Hara)

Ringing in the New Year

Posted by amberhunt@heartandharastudio.com on January 12, 2010 at 11:04 AM Comments comments (0)

I made a deal with myself last year, that I would do what brings me joy. This meant changing some of my relationships, with people, with work, with myself. I have always found joy in the expression of self through sound, and 10 years ago I experienced a powerful awakening of self through the sound of a gong. The gong is an instrument used to change or expand a body of work, be it musical or human. These 10 years I have never forgotten my experience, and came to the conclusion that it was time to have my own gong, to continue the expansion of self through the powerful and transformational sound waves it can create.

I started researching gongs last spring, looking for a source/supplier that held the awareness of integrity that I need in all contacts these days. I found a source out of CA with a fellow sound therapist that created the opportunity for what I now can enjoy in my own personal space. My 22" chau gong arrived on January 6th. My husband made a beautiful stand for it and now I get to have my 10-year dream come true in 2010!

My gong will be played in most kundalini yoga classes as well as in my singing bowl gatherings and sound therapy sessions. It has a wonderful range of tones, and a glorious shimmer that can be reached if the participants are open.

May you do what brings you joy, in every moment, in every day. Letting in the goodness of you brings in more joy and more into the great web of life as joy is a gift to all.

Sat Nam. Happy 2010!
